Castoro Cellars

FEBRUARY

Art Show
Cuesta College Art Classes:
Preschool to Emeritus

In February, Castoro Cellars is pleased to bring you something a little different – art work created by local art students enrolled in the Cuesta College Art Program, from preschool to Emeritus. The show runs February 1st through February 28th.

A variety of media will be exhibited, from fingerpaint to oils. Styles will include anything from the exuberant and liberal use of color from the Preschool classes to the wealth of life experience exhibited by the Emeritus class painters.

The Cuesta Children’s Centers are Early Childhood Education Lab Schools and child-centered day care facilities which encourage children to choose freely from a wide range of play and learning experiences.

Cuesta’s Emeritus classes are free enrichment courses geared for adults 50 years and above.  They offer lifelong learning through a variety of interactive and educational formats. Classes are designed for older adults who want to continue learning and are taught by expert instructors who help explore new topics and activities.

Come and meet the artists at a special free artists’ reception on Sunday, February 7, from 1 pm to 4 pm. Hors d’oeuvres will be served, and wine will be available for purchase by the glass for $5, with proceeds benefiting the North County Cuesta Children’s Center.

Help for Haiti!
Local musicians play a benefit for Haiti!

This is going to be an incredible evening. Local musicians have gotten together and offered to play a benefit for earthquake victims in Haiti. The evening will begin with a delicious meal (available for purchase) from Bon Temps Creole Cafe. They'll have a variety of menu options available, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the cause.

Jody Mulgrew (formerly of the Johnny Starlings) will open the show with a solo acoustic set. Then, the Guy Budd Band will take the stage for with their mixture of existential rockin' blues. Finishing up the evening with be the Louie Ortega Band. What a night! And all for a suggested donation of only $15.

The money raised from the show will go directly to Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres) and their relief efforts in Haiti. MSF has been working in Haiti for the past 19 years, but has recently opened three emergency hospitals to deal with the aftermath of the earthquakes.
